Find out what we are loving each month…

I signed up to Brain Pickings last year whilst on holiday. I fell in love with the concept and content quickly. You may have to do some digging to find pieces relevant to you but it is so worth it. It is refreshing to discover pieces of writing you wouldn’t usually pick up in the book shop. Brain Pickings sends a Sunday or mid week newsletter with inspiring articles across art, science, philosophy, creativity, children’s books, and other strands of our search for truth, beauty, and meaning.

It is created by Maria Popova, she manages the site herself spending her days researching articles of relevance. It is a total ad free site and a true passion project.

We first found the artist Charlie Mackesy (he describes himself as “grubby artist”) last year on World Mental Health Day when his work went viral across social media. His sketches reminded me of my love for Winnie the pooh as a child and my mum and I have followed him ever since. He has since released a book full of his work, which I received as a Christmas present, it is one of my go to books for a quick pick me up. I bought my mum one of his prints, they are beautiful simple reminders that kindness is key and that everything will be okay!

‘A wonderful work of art and a wonderful window into the human heart.’

Taking it back to school! Where I bought my first Lamy fountain pen from the stationary shop. There is something special about writing with a fountain pen filled with ink, my writing just seems to flow. I like Lamy because they are nostalgic for me but I also love that they are available in brilliant, bold colours! If you are like us and have very messy desks, this is super handy. It also makes me WANT to write, it somehow makes the experience so much more enjoyable. #geek

A much appreciated Christmas pressie, have you heard of Bum Bum Cream? I had seen it floating around the magazines and I am always intrigued by a cult new beauty product. Well… It smells delicious, like paradise in a pot. It is said to tighten, not sure it does but it sure does make your skin glow! Pronounced as “boom boom” in Brazil, where bums are a nationwide obsession! It is rich in South American secret ingredients, the hyper hydrating blend of cupuaçu butter, açai and coconut oil leaving guaraná to be the star of the show. It absorbs super fast which is key for me as I like to put it on before bed! It will grant you all the confidence of a carnival dancer in no time! Ps. its not just for bums!

Uh ma god! The dreamiest clothes I wish I could wear every single day whilst living beneath palm trees drinking out of coconuts.

They say “each piece is a keepsake, made to last, out of handpicked, luxe materials that float with you from one chapter to the next”. I love this mission statement and does the trick enticing me even more!

Australia-born, Bali-based Innika Choo draws on inspiration from her free-spirited lifestyle, love of vintage design and tropical surroundings for her gorgeous label. The former stylist’s collection is crafted by hand from luxe linen and cotton and the pieces’ delicate embroidery and smocking express bohemian sensibilities. The chic tops, shorts and dresses combine an effortless ease with feminine charm.
